Learn moviemaking from a master.
Great movies are full of adventure, and Australia, the next film from Oscar-nominated director Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, William Shakespeare’s Romeo+Juliet), is no exception. But making a movie is an even bigger adventure—an adventure in creativity—and with the Apple Set to Screen Series, you can be a part of it.
Every few weeks through October, a new podcast episode from Baz and his production team will introduce you to another aspect of moviemaking, starting with on-set still photography, then moving on to costume design, cinematography, scoring, and more. You’ll get insights from the artists at work on Australia, watch them in action, view footage the rest of the world hasn’t seen yet, and follow along as the movie comes together.
Facebook notifications as your RSS screen saver

I have used the RSS Visualizer that’s on my Powerbook to display headlines from the BBC news feed until now. Tonight my brother noticed the BBC headlines flashing across my idle screen in the blue animated Mac screen saver. He said “can you put your facebook on there?” – So I checked out the options for the screensaver in the system prefrences and found it pulls from the [News] bookmarks folder in the Safari browser. I went to my facebook and in my notifications and hit ’subscribe to feed’. Then I took the URL from that page and added into the [News] bookmark folder in Safari. Then when it showed up in the Safari [News] bookmarks folder I selected it as the RSS source in the visualizer options. Now I have facebook notifications coming up as my screen saver. I’m sure you could do this with another RSS feed too.
