Pimp this Bum

I’ve been looking for SOME way to practically help the homeless people we see everyday. I like this concept, though not universal, it’s a good idea. Take the media crazed reality world and use it for good. Pimpthisbum.com  It’s not degrading at all but catches attention for a really good cause, they take homeless people, spot light them and get them donations , housing , the whole 9.

Instead of Extreem make-overs to make normal people look like Barbies , or “Pimp my ride” shows – why not help the very people that have nothing at all and do a life transformation on them . In my opinion, there shouldn’t be ANY homeless people in America – we could really solve that problem completely. Instead of paying attention to the already-rich-and-famous. Let’s bring glory to people who have nothing, and give them everything. I know it’s not that simple, but the concept should be used. Anyway there are a million ways to solve problems here is one of them:

CNN article

Tori Amos: Abnormally attracted to sin

She is coming out with a new album, you can google all the details. Her 1st leaked track is called “Welcome to England”  . Tori is an Artist. I think of her a painter, she is Avant Guard, in a rock/pop genre, very idiosyncratic and in a class of her own, unless you want to compare her to Joni Mitchell , Kate Bush or Bjork in the respect of their unique personal style and prolific nature [ Sans Kate Bush].  I’ll let some one else do the proper editorial. My thing is, I’m always excited to see what she is doing artistically, as a musical motif.

I appreciate her as an art, though I don’t personally identify with her message or themes. That said, I think her best work ever has been Boys for Pele. At no other time has the centre of her artistic expression been so clear and defined. I loved Scarlet’s walk, in it’s own right, and Choir Girl Hotel, but all other albums seem to culminate with Boy for Pele or an off shoot there of. For me, this new album could be great, but if she doesn’t return to the clarity of Boys.. then we are still lost in translation from the original transmission.

The spareness to that work, the celestial themes, and esp. purist baroque quality to it, fits her best.  Too many of her songs have been ruined by in-house muddy production effects, though I get the need to experiment with sounds. But I think: get back to raw, get back to being the “me and the piano girl” from another planet, not the aging pop singer with too much studio shellac. Another thing: what’s up with the last two albums art work being sub-par?! It’s shameful, and generic. I remember when Tori’s album art was as riveting as the music it expressed, she needs some serious help with Art Dirrection, HIRE ME!! :)  Let’s hope this new one can be as ground breaking as “little earth quakes” was, and as concise as BFP, [fingers crossed) let’s also hope as an artist, Tori’s best is yet ahead.
