Basement Jaxx “Rain drops”

It’s been a while since we heard from Basement Jaxx. I really think they were ahead of their time.. untill now..

It seems like the world has finally caught up to their dizzying kaleidoscope of mash-up mix dance tracks. With the likes of Jackson and his computer band, MGMT,  M.I.A. Animal Collective, Passion Pit, we see this “everything is more” aesthetic now in the mainstream indie music that they really pioneer’d before that was really even popular. They came out when music was still going through this very sympathetic cathartic lullyby Radiohead/ Sigur ros sweet sounding music. Basement Jaxx has always been bombastic and from their graphics to the disco-futuristic feel mixxed of course with jungle animals? It does quite feel like there is a party going on in the jungle some where, and i’d say it’s about time they did come back, with this new jungle-feeling track ” Raindrops”  from Scars is the upcoming fifth studio album by the British dance/electronic duo Basement Jaxx. It is due for release in September 2009[1] guest vocals from Grace Jones, Cyndi Lauper, Santigold, Yoko Ono, Yo Majesty, and Sam Sparro.  Really interested in hearing the collabs with Sam Sparro and Santigold.

Beck: “Femme Fatale” (Velvet Underground cover)

On June 18, 2009, Beck announced that he was starting something called Record Club, in which he and other musicians would record cover versions of entire albums in one day. The first album covered by Beck’s Record Club is The Velvet Underground & Nico. Starting on June 18, the club began posting covers of songs from the album on Thursday evenings, each with its own video[50]. – wikipedia

Universal Everything lecture / Matt Pyke

I’m a huge fan of Universal Everything’s studio. If you have an interest in design and the process of design it’s really worth watching esp from the perspective of seeing the “process”

Nobukazu Takemura

I’m always looking for new music and lately I’ve been pretty BORED!  There is so much good music out there, that sometimes I forget, you just have to look!

So I just recently came across this guy: Nobukazu Takemura

I really love his stuff. I’m a really big fan of anything IDM, from the Glitch, to the Micro beats, Ambient sounds, to the Avant garde.

I cannot seem to find one place on the internets to listen to his work concisely, a la Myspace but you can do a youtube search for vidoe/music combo or find him on Pandora radio, but defiantly worth hunting down to hear / acquire some tracks for your Intelligent music collection!

here is a sample to get you started:
